Geraldine's boutique vinyl record store and coffee shop
Relive the past and dig for your favourite albums, or just drop in for a coffee while listening to your favourite music.
The Record Keeper is an independent vinyl record store where you can enjoy a good coffee while listening to your favourite music.
Stephen and Katrina welcome you to relive the past of browsing or digging in record stores while helping to create a more sustainable future.
Sustainability is at the forefront of what we want to do. We are using solar power in new storage heaters, to spin the vinyl and to make your coffee.
We have restored one of Geraldine’s oldest shops which first opened in 1890. Now it will be the home of classic albums from the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s as well as new releases from local Kiwi artists.
We are easy to find at 116 Talbot Street being next to the Fire Station in Geraldine.

It’s been 18 years since The Rolling Stones gave us some new original material. That’s a very long time but Hackney Diamonds is an album worth waiting for and it was released today!
It’s classic Rolling Stones but don’t take our word for it, come and have a listen for yourself at the Record Keeper.
Gordon Grose liked what he heard and is now the proud owner of this fantastic album. ... See MoreSee Less

What an excellent evening we had last night as Lee Parkinson, a passionate fan of David Bowie, took us through what he described as “an incomplete musical odyssey of the life and times of Mrs Jones little boy, one or two of his mis-steps and a lot about those who he helped and worked with along the way.”
It was certainly the latter, along with listening to both Bowie’s lesser known and more popular tracks on vinyl, that made for a very interesting evening about a most talented artist, performer, songwriter and musician.
It was another sold-out event for the Record Keeper with the audience showing huge appreciation for Lee’s research, knowledge and presentation. ... See MoreSee Less

The presentation had to be great. Sure this was an enjoyable experience.
Thanks to Stephen, (the master-vinyl-finder), and Katrina, (the Master baker and barrista), owners of The Record Keeper - Geraldine for arranging and hosting this. Most importantly, thanks to all the good people from Geraldine, Temuka, Timaru, and Pleasant Point who turned up on a Tuesday evening to hear some of the story of Mrs Jones Little Boy, told in a slightly different way - focusing on the musical connections he made throughout his life.
How come I only find out about these things after the event?
